Is Amazon filing PERM right now, after two rounds of corporate layoffs?
On H-1B and my manager is vague about the green card timeline. Is there a freeze?

There's no public statement from Amazon, but here's how it usually works. Department of Labor rules say that if an employer laid off workers in the same or similar roles within 180 days before a PERM filing, it has to notify and consider them. So after a layoff round, big tech companies often pause new PERM filings for about six months to stay compliant (Bloomberg Law explains the rule well). Amazon has done this before: it paused new green card sponsorship for the rest of 2024. With rounds in October 2025 and January 2026, a pause now would fit the pattern, but nothing official confirms it. Ask your immigration team for your case specifically, and watch DOL disclosure data for new Amazon filings.Sources: news.bloomberglaw.com ↗ , qz.com ↗
