The short version

- We never take money to remove, hide, or reorder reviews.
- If you're named on the site and don't want to be, you can ask to be removed.
- We don't show who wrote a review, but anonymity has limits, including valid legal orders.
- Visa sponsorship numbers come from US government data and are not legal or immigration advice.
This summary is here to help. The full text below is what applies.
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and Know The Boss ("Know The Boss," "we," "us"). They cover your use of our website and everything on it, including reviews, ratings, community questions and answers, and visa sponsorship data.
By using Know The Boss you agree to these terms, our Posting Guidelines, and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
2. Who can use Know The Boss
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or post anything. You can browse without an account.
If you create an account, the information you give us must be accurate, you may have only one account, and you are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure. Tell us right away if you think someone else has used your account.
3. What Know The Boss is
Know The Boss is a place for people to share their own experiences with companies, executives, and managers, so others can make better decisions about where and for whom to work. We also show public data about H-1B and green card sponsorship.
We host what users write. We are not an employer, a recruiter, a law firm, or an immigration advisor, and nothing on the site is legal, financial, or career advice.
4. Rules for what you post
Everything you post must follow our Posting Guidelines. When you post, you promise that:
It is based on your own first-hand experience as a current or former employee, contractor, intern, or job candidate.
It is your honest opinion, and anything you state as fact is true to the best of your knowledge.
It does not include false statements of fact about anyone, accusations of crimes, or personal information about anyone.
You are not reviewing yourself, a family member, or a company you own or compete with.
No one paid you, rewarded you, or pressured you to post it, or to say something positive or negative.
You have the right to share it, and it does not reveal trade secrets or break a legal duty you owe someone else.
You can't post the same review more than once, post on someone else's behalf, or use more than one account to post about the same company or person.
5. Your right to talk about work
Nothing in these terms stops you from discussing your pay, benefits, hours, or working conditions, or from reporting something to a government agency. Those rights come from law, and we don't ask you to give them up.
You are still responsible for your own legal duties. Don't post genuine trade secrets, like source code, unreleased product plans, or customer data.
6. Reviews are opinions, not our statements
Reviews, ratings, answers, and other posts are written by users and reflect their own experiences and opinions. Different people can experience the same workplace very differently.
We don't verify the facts in user posts, and we don't adopt or endorse them. Scores, rankings, and summaries on the site are calculated from what users submit and from the reviews shared on other sites, described below. When a summary is written with the help of AI, we label it, and it describes what reviewers said rather than stating facts of its own.
Some reviews are short summaries of reviews that people posted publicly on other websites. Each one is labeled "Shared on another site" and keeps the star rating its author gave there, and those ratings count toward company scores and rankings. Until enough people rate a company's categories here, such as pay or work-life balance, its category ratings are averages published by another employee review site, and the page says so.
Some community threads are started by the Know The Boss team and are labeled that way. They sum up news reports, with links, and ask the people affected to share what they know.
Company news and changes to visa sponsorship are found in news coverage and summarized automatically by AI, with links to the original reports. They are summaries of what others reported, not our own findings, and they can be wrong. Use "Is this wrong?" on any item to tell us.
7. How we moderate
We screen posts with automated tools, including AI models, and send anything that might break the rules to a person. Anyone can report a post. We may decline, remove, hide, or restore content, or suspend accounts, when we believe it is needed to enforce these terms or the law.
We don't rewrite what you wrote. If part of a post breaks the rules, we remove or hold the post rather than changing your words, and you can submit a new version.
Outside of a removal request (section 10), we don't remove a review only because it is negative or because someone disagrees with it, and we never accept payment to remove, hide, or reorder reviews. We aren't required to monitor everything, and we can't promise that every post that breaks the rules will be caught.
8. Your content and the license you give us
You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, display, and distribute it on and in connection with Know The Boss, including in excerpts, share images, scores, and summaries, and to let the companies that run our service do the same for us.
You can edit or delete your posts from your account. After you delete something we stop showing it within a reasonable time, though copies can remain in backups for a while, and scores already calculated can still reflect it in anonymous, combined form.
If you delete your account without deleting your reviews first, the reviews stay up, with no link to you or your account.
9. Anonymity and its limits
We don't show your name or email with your reviews. Reviews appear under an anonymous label, and community posts show a display name only if you choose one.
Anonymity is not absolute. Details you include, like your team, dates, or specific events, can make you identifiable to people who know you, so think about that before you post. We may also have to disclose information we hold if we receive a valid subpoena, court order, or other legal process. When the law allows, we will try to tell you before we do, so you have a chance to object.
10. If you are named or reviewed
Companies, executives, and managers can report any post they believe breaks our Posting Guidelines, using the report button or the contact form. We will review it against the same rules that apply to everyone.
If you believe a post contains a false statement of fact about you, use the contact form to send us the link, the exact statement, and why it is false. We remove content that clearly breaks our rules. For disputes about whether a statement is true, we may need a court order before removing it, because we weren't there and can't judge who is right.
You can also ask us to correct factual details on a profile, like a job title or company.
If you are a person named on Know The Boss and don't want to be listed, you can ask to be removed using the "Request removal" link at the bottom of every page. Once we approve a request, we hide your profile and the reviews about you, and we won't accept new reviews naming you. Requests from a manager signed in with their own work email at the same company (an address with their name in it) are usually approved right away. Requests about executives, and all others, are checked by a person. Companies can ask too, but because company pages are about the workplace rather than one person, we review those one by one and usually keep them up.
Please don't contact reviewers, try to figure out who they are, or retaliate against them. We may remove profiles or accounts used for that.
11. Things you may not do
Collect data from the site with bots, scrapers, or crawlers, other than search engines following our robots file.
Try to identify anonymous users, or help someone else do it.
Post spam, ads, or links meant to sell something.
Buy, sell, or trade reviews or ratings, or offer rewards for reviews that say something particular.
Impersonate anyone or misrepresent your connection to a company.
Interfere with the site, its security, or other people's use of it.
Use the site to break any law.
12. Visa sponsorship data
H-1B numbers come from the USCIS H-1B Employer Data Hub, and green card numbers come from Department of Labor PERM disclosure data. We match the legal names on those filings to companies on our site, and that matching can be incomplete or wrong.
Labels like "Sponsors both" or "Few green cards lately" are our reading of the filings, together with news reports and reports from employees and candidates. A drop in the filing counts alone is only ever described, never called a pause, because certifications are published a year or more after a company files. A label says "paused" or "suspended" only when news reports it, or when several signed-in employees or candidates do. When news reports a suspension or pause, it sets the label until enough employees or candidates report after it, and then their reports take over. These labels are not statements from the companies. Government data is published with a delay and can change. Always confirm sponsorship with the employer or an immigration attorney before making a decision.
13. Copyright complaints
We respect copyright. If you believe something on Know The Boss infringes your copyright, send a notice through the contact form that includes:
Your contact information and your physical or electronic signature.
The copyrighted work you believe was infringed.
The link to the material you want removed.
A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law.
A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or are authorized to act for the owner.
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice. We disable the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.
14. Other websites and sign-in services
Know The Boss links to other websites, shows company logos for identification, and lets you sign in with services like Google. We don't control those services, and their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.
Photos of public figures come from Wikimedia Commons under their own licenses, and each one is credited on that person's profile.
15. Ending your use
You can stop using Know The Boss and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop offering the service. Sections 6, 8, 9, and 16 through 21 continue to apply after your access ends.
16. Disclaimers
Know The Boss is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises about the site, including that it will be accurate, complete, reliable, available, or free of errors. User content and government data can be wrong or out of date, and you rely on them at your own risk.
17. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Know The Boss and the people who run it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or opportunities, arising from your use of the site or from any content on it.
Our total liability for any claim related to the site is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the last 12 months. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
18. Your responsibility for your content
You agree to defend and hold harmless Know The Boss and the people who run it from claims, losses, and costs, including reasonable legal fees, that come from content you post or from your breaking these terms or the law. We may take over the defense of any such claim, and you agree to cooperate.
19. Resolving disputes
If you have a problem with Know The Boss, tell us through the contact form first and give us 60 days to try to fix it informally.
If we can't resolve it, you and we agree to settle the dispute through binding individual arbitration under the Federal Arbitration Act, rather than in court, except that either side may bring an individual claim in small claims court, and either side may go to court over intellectual property or to stop unauthorized use of the site.
You and we each give up the right to a jury trial and to take part in a class action or class arbitration. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days after you first agree to these terms by sending a message through the contact form with "Arbitration opt-out" as the topic.
20. Governing law and time limit
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any claim that isn't arbitrated will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
Any claim related to Know The Boss must be brought within one year after it arises, unless the law requires a longer period.
21. Changes and the rest
We may update these terms as the site changes. If a change is significant, we will give notice on the site before it takes effect. Using the site after that means you accept the new terms.
If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a provision doesn't waive it. You may not transfer these terms to someone else, but we may transfer them as part of a merger or sale. These terms, the Posting Guidelines, and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the site.
22. Contact
Send questions, legal notices, and requests to review content through the contact form.
For content requests, please include the link to the page and the reason for your request.
