Are Superintelligence Labs teams safer from layoffs than the rest of Meta?

Not across the board. In October 2025 Meta cut about 600 roles in its AI org, hitting legacy FAIR research and some product and infrastructure groups. The TBD Lab unit with many of the high-profile hires was spared. Alexandr Wang's memo framed it as smaller teams making faster decisions. Reported severance was 16 weeks plus 2 weeks per year of service, and people could apply for other internal roles. So it depends heavily on which part of MSL you'd join.Source: techradar.com ↗
