Microsoft, Adobe and IT firms barred from filing PERM: what are you hearing?

On Oct 8, 2026 the administration said the Labor Department will stop accepting new or pending PERM applications from Microsoft, Adobe, Capgemini, Cognizant, HCL, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro, citing alleged fraud and harm to US workers. Cognizant and Cloudera were already suspended in September. What's been reported so far:• PERM is the first step of most employer-sponsored green cards, so new cases at these companies can't move forward for now.• No end date has been given.• News reports say existing H-1B visas and green cards aren't affected.• Microsoft says most of its US employees are American and that it will give the administration more information. If this affects you, we'd like to hear:• If you're partway through the process, what has your immigration team or attorney told you?• Is anyone looking at employers that can still file, or at self-petition routes like EB-1A or EB-2 NIW?• Have offers, start dates or internal transfers changed because of this? This thread was started by the Know The Boss team, and we'll update it as official details come out. Nothing here is legal advice, so please check your own case with an immigration attorney. Sources:techcrunch.com ↗nbcnews.com ↗
