Arkane Lyon gets one more month to find a buyer: what are people hearing?
Microsoft has extended the consultation at Arkane Lyon, the studio behind Dishonored and Deathloop that's now making Marvel's Blade, by one month. Le Monde had reported that the consultation with the studio's staff committee would end on November 13 and was expected to end in closure if no buyer turned up. The new date reported is December 13. What's been reported so far:• Microsoft told PC Gamer it's exploring options, including finding a partner to support the studio through the development work still ahead, and called this a defined extension.• Le Monde reported that Blade is nearing the end of production, and that French law requires a search for a buyer of at least three months, which started in the summer.• In July, when Xbox announced about 3,200 job cuts and parted ways with four studios, it said Arkane was reviewing potential strategic options.• Bloomberg's Jason Schreier has reported that several paths to save the studio are being explored. If you're close to the studio, we'd like to hear:• Has management said what happens to Blade if a buyer is found?• How is the consultation going for the people inside it?• If you've been through a studio sale, what should the team be asking for right now?
