Netflix is cutting about 1,000 jobs: what are you hearing inside?

On Oct 14, 2026, co-CEOs Greg Peters and Ted Sarandos told staff that Netflix is cutting nearly 1,000 jobs, about 6% of the company. It's the biggest round of cuts there in years. What's been reported so far:• Product, tech, legal and HR teams are hit hardest.• The memo calls them organizational changes, says Netflix needs to be disciplined about where it puts its people and resources, and says the business is still strong.• The cuts came about a week before Netflix reported third quarter earnings, after a forecast that came in below what Wall Street expected.• Netflix declined to comment beyond the memo. If you're at Netflix, we'd like to hear:• Did whole teams go at once, or did it feel more like the keeper test at scale?• How does the severance compare with what Netflix is known for?• If you're staying, what has changed about how your team works? This thread was started by the Know The Boss team, and we'll update it as more is reported. Sources:laist.com ↗hollywoodreporter.com ↗
